What are some things that your work colleagues would never guess about you?

That I love classical music, and played violin in Carnegie Hall when I was 16 (I think they think I'monly interested in kids and cooking and news).

That I wanted to be a pediatrician when I was a kid (then I took AP biology and discovered that I'm not, um, gifted when it comes to science).

That I'm really not that interested in politics (I was an editor in National News for almost 5 years).

That I am a huge coffee fiend (the coffee at work is horrible, so I always drink tea there).

I can only imagine the terror/mortification a 16-year-old girl would feel in that situation.

So, I'm curious: how did you come to be playing Carnegie Hall? That doesn't just happen by chance!

It was way cool... but, in true Lylah form, I snapped my A string while the orchestra was warming up and didn't have a spare with me, so other violinists had to scramble around and come up with one, pass it hand-over-hand to me at the front of the stage, where I was so nervous and my hands were shaking so badly that I actually installed it backwards (which is near impossible to do), had to take it back out, reinstall it, and then the whole freaking orchestra had to re-tune just for me... It's funny now, 20 years later. At the time, though, I seriously thought I was going to burst into flame from embarrassment!

I do still play, but I'm terribly rusty!
