Total insanity

Today was so crazy for us... I'm functioning on very little sleep and we had to leave early to visit our family for a few days. We packed a car with so much stuff that it felt like we were moving to another house!!!! We were completely stressed out... The car was so full that you couldn't see anything through the rearview mirror! The drive was ok until we got pulled over for speeding and got a nasty cop who wouldn't give us a break! It totally sucks to get a speeding ticket around the holidays... it always sucks to get a ticket, but around the holidays it is especially annoying.... Don't cops give people a break around this festive time of year??? It felt like a scene from Chevy Chase movie... car full of crap, a screaming baby, stressed out parents.... and no break???? Anyway, as you can tell i'm still annoyed about it (and we got this ticket a few hours ago)!!!

I hope you were able to salvage some pleasure at being with family/friends for the holidays.

It gets better as they grow, which seems antithetical. Their bodies grow larger, yet there is less to shlep. No more pac-n-play, stroller, car seat.....My finest moment was when my son made it to a booster seat in the car, one that he could pick up and put into a friend's car at the age of 6, because it was so light.
It will get better. My advice, smell your baby's tummy, kiss it a lot. It's the best age to do it. And be grateful for the fact that your baby can't say what my son said to me when he turned 2. We were in the kitchen and I couldn't find something in the pantry. His little voice piped up to tell me where the something was. "Wow,thanks, David! How did you know where that was?" and he said:" Mom, when are you going to learn that you are always wrong and I am always right?"
To which I replied: "Listen Buster, you're not supposed to say that for at least another 12 years.....
Precocious is cute, but it can make you wanna-----your kid.
Have a safe trip!!!
