Work might make me crazy, I just needed to rant

So when the short sales got taken away, I as supposed to show more houses as per his idea. Instead, he decided to get buyer agents. Again, they get all the leads but no deals are getting made. Hmmm...before the agents came on, I handled all the leads and deals were getting made - maybe not a ton (since he tries to keep me bogged down with paperwork still, even though we have a data entry person in the office) but I had at least one a month and now we are down to none a month. This is another loss of profit! He is constantly complaining how he has to cut back expenses or make more money. So, again, another revelation since I answer the phone is that our new agents are not following up with the leads. They are new and need structure. Since I can obviously work the leads since we had more sales when I was handling all of the leads, I should handle the leads and take on managing the agents and get a small split of what he collects from them for all of the work I will do and the data entry person, who is always bored, can take on my data entry. Now, if he had just said no it would have been better. However, after telling me how he wasn't trying to pay anyone to do that because he could do it himself, he realized that he cant sell all the leads himself and instead of asking me, today I found out that he hired someone else!!! He hired another guy who literally walked in off the street without a resume, license or anything and offered him $10 an hour plus 15% of all the sales in the office!!!!!!!!!! Now, its not like I am just thinking that I do a good job and really dont as my boss actually gets tons of customers and businesses we work with telling him what a great job I did and how whatever he's paying me, it can't be enough. My boss has even asked me what I do to people since they all seem to speak so highly of me and like working with me.

Now, to make things even worse, the company where we operate from is a corporate office and the owner's wife is the sales manager for the actual corporation. The owner came to me to tell me that they needed a new sales manager because she wants to go back to sales. This is exactly what I would be perfect for especially since working for my boss doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere or utilizing my skills to their full potential. I have closed over 500 deals, know contracts inside and out and know how to sell and close deals and get other people to do the same. I have managed retail before as well. The owner seemed excited with my application and resume and had me interview and take some questionnaires that the company has but prior to his going over any of it with me, his wife, the current manager then called me in her office to let me know that it was nice of me to apply but I dont have the experience they are looking for as they need someone who knows contracts very well and is good with people. ???????? I know each contract and addendum from front to back, even better than the agent I work for who has been doing this for 30 years (and he will admit that) and I work with people (obviously) every single day!! She told me that this company was her baby and that she wasn't going to leave until she found the right person. I also know for a fact that our office as a whole is not profitable and has not been since they opened 3 years ago so she is obviously not the person to manage the sales there. She is also 20 years older than me and took it upon herself to come into my office later to discuss the economy and how its "my generation that can't manage their money and is in trouble"!!! My husband said it honestly doesnt sound like she wants to leave the job at all and has issues with young, driven people.

  • Sounds like you're doing the right thing. My ex worked for 10 years in sales at a firm like you were describing. And at the end they just folded the company when they retired and gave him, the top seller, 2 week severance package. Crazy out there sometimes.
