An exhausting kick off

2008 is starting with a huge wimper in our house as both girls battle some bug "that is going around and will last for a few days."  New Year's Eve plans had to be abandoned and I attempted to go to bed early only to be woken constantly throughout the night by one or both who were sniffling, sneezing, coughing and I'm sure aching and all I could do was hold them and wipe away the goop.

Then we hosted an open house on New Year's Day and the baby was just a mess the whole time.  Most of the day, actually.  And now the sun doesn't rise for a couple more hours and I already know I won't be getting any work done today as the baby sits next to me surely to doze off just as big girl wakes and my body is aching with fighting this thing off.  I keep chanting "I better not get it."

But I swear I'm trying to smile.  Family is still in town w/ big bro in from Maui and was more than happy to shovel all of the snow yesterday while hubby and I dealt with the girls.  Haha, and I'm feeling all babbly b/c I haven't had more than 40 mintues sleep at a time for two nights now.  Yaawwwnnnnnn.  Too funny, though, was the cat nap I tried to take on the floor at this time yesterday morning while the girls played their new *pink* drum kit right by my head.  Hubby said it didn't even phase me.  I thought my head was pounding from exhaustion!!

  • You gals are awesome! Turns out double ear infections in both. Fun! Hopefully the screaming will stop now that they've got a dose of meds in them. Seems like all of these kids really wanted to see the arrival of 2008. Wonder if they know something we don't?!!?

  • My kids (and hubby) got that bug, too! Though in the three oldest kids, it's manifested itself as a stomach bug of some kind. I am soo sooo tired of wiping up other people's bodily fluids...

I've been wondering how you are. Hope you're surviving the snow... and the pink drum kit!

  • OH - I can sooo relate! I hope that our start of 2008 was not an indication how this year will be! Our baby decided to celebrate New Year's with us - was up till 1am and we had no plans of staying up that late! Then up again last night.... I'm a total zambi... I hope your girls feel better!!!

  • Ha ha ... The image conjured by description of the pink drum kit right by your head but not phasing you made me chuckle. Hope everyone starts feeling better.
