What was the last thing that you did just for yourself?

I actually have to say making time for just myself is not a problem for me. Its more that I just feel guilty about it all the time. I do make at least 3 trips to the gym where I work out for about 45 minutes, and then take a shower and quickly get ready. So that is about an hour total 3 times a week. I also try to get my nails done about every 2-3 weeks. This is about 30 minutes for myself as well. Other than that the only other time I am doing things for myself is taking a 5-10 minute shower! Although this is usually interrupted by someone banging on the door!! Haha! I am going to try and take some time out for myself by connecting with other working moms on this website. Hopefully I can get some support in not feeling so guilty about taking any time for myself and learning about ways to spend better quality time with my kids!

  • Yup - I am definitely having guilt the whole time I am at the gym. Luckily I have a membership at our park district which is also where my daughter's preschool is. The childcare center there is great too. So on the days my daughter goes to school, which is also the days that I work evenings, I drop off at school, then drop at the childcare for my son, do a hardcore 40 minute workout, take a shower & put makeup on for about 10-15 minutes, get my son, play with him for the 1/2 hour left before my daughter gets out of school, run home, feed them lunch, my sitter arrives, and then its off to work. It is VERY hectic, but once we got into the routine it is very smooth. That is only 2 days out of the week though, I then wake up early on Sunday mornings to go by myself and come home at about 7:30 to make pancakes :) Talk about a juggling act!!! Here's the thing though, staying fit means I fit into my clothes better so I am not spending lots of time triyng on different clothes (so its actually a time saver) and also I find I have WAY more energy to play with my kids and keep up with them!

  • I think all mom's out there can relate to the guilt. Tonight I am missing my daughter's tumble class so I can get a massage. My goal is once a month but since I have 15 prepaids waiting to be used, it is quite clear, I make zero time to myself.

I do have a question about your working out 3 times a week. I really need to get in a routine. Do you do this during your work day or after? How do you manage? I need to do something to lose the 10 lbs and my doctor said to hit the gym but that mommy-guilt kicks in and I never get around to going.
