Why work?

...we need the money. If we didn't need the money, I'd still work, but with much more discrimination. I make my income solely through writing, and I'd be choosing only such projects as I really loved, and which I felt valued me.
Because my children are older, and because I work from home, I don't make a connection between work and parenting. I am fortunate that they rarely come into conflict.
I work because we have a mortgage and I need to feed and clothe my family. I write because writing is who I am; I can't not write any more than I can't not have brown eyes. I would love to earn my living doing what I am, rather than make money doing what I must.
