Murphy's Law

Damn!  Daughter wakes us up at 12:30am and tells me that her throat has closed up.  She'd had a recent bout with strep and they put her on meds.  She'd been doing good, riding her new bike that she just got for her upcoming 18th b'day and now.........

Anyway, I told her to take her meds (informed me she already had) and go downstairs to sleep.  If she still felt bad in the morning, I'd take her to the doctor.

Well, at 2:30, she wakes us up again and says her throat has closed up and hurts so bad she's in tears.  Hubby ends up taking her to the ER.  They finally make it home after 5am.  Test is positive for Mono.  Throat has a leision on the back, no strep (at least the meds worked on that), but they couldn't figure out why it had flared up.  No problem with the spleen.

She's out of school the next 2 days.  3rd tern ends tomorrow.

Damn!  I'm tired, and cranky and I'm hurting for her.

  • Iam so sorry. Oh the baby. Just make sure she geting plenty of rest and doing to much and you know. Your a great mom . Make sure she gargles with salt water gets plenty of rest . No heavy lifting or doing anything that will strain her or her throat . lozenges to soothe your sore throat. Check Out Web MD to they have some home remedies to help along the way with the medicine. There's the home remedy site which gives tips on treating it with some tea and etc. I really hope your baby feels better. Let her rest though :)
