You're right, publishers do not yet understand the power of internet and word of mouth marketing. We tried for years to make a deal with a publisher to create compilations of his online comic strip. We had lots of positive response to the strip itself, but no one was interested in making a deal despite the fact that he has 40,000 people visit his site every day. We finally had to publish the book ourselves and set up an online store to sell it. This has worked, we're paying our bills on book sales, but I'd still love it if we could set up a deal with a publisher so that I do not have to do all the shipping. It would also be nice to get the books into bookstores like Barnes and Noble.

To answer your question, I'm still new to Work It Mom. I'm still figuring out if this particular networking site is going to work for me. But I've been networking via my blog for years. It has given me the chance to get to know lots of other people who support my efforts and whose efforts I support. I know that without the information and offers to help that we received online, our business would be dead.
