Social Issue of Concern

Unmarried Pregnancy is one of my social issue of concern. I am in my early 30's and when I was in junior high and high school is when it became strangly "socially acceptable" for young girls to have babies. I never heard a breath of dissaproval from the public when a 14 year old girl would become pregnant. Besides, that wouldn't have been politically correct. The 80s and 90s were all about making every choice a good choice.
My sister became pregnant at 13 and had her baby. Another girl was pregnant at the same time in the same school (consequently of the same name) and kept her baby while my sister placed her child for adoption. My sister was absolutely badgered and ridiculed by people for making that choice.
So, I grew up thinking that pregnancy at any time was okay and had a couple of kids of my own by the time I was 25. Marriage didn't really matter much to me and I never felt shunned or like there was anything wrong with living with my boyfriend. Everyone was doing it.
While I certainly don't regret my two oldest children, I do regret that I wasn't in a healthy, stable marriage when they were born. I have another child now and am in a healthy stable marriage now and the difference is so acute. I can't stress enough how waiting to have sex until you are married is SO important to prevent a pregnancy prior to that time.
