  • Hi Victoria - lay in a low-lit room and have someone massage your temples. Ibuprofen works for me. Take deep breathes and walk away from the computer and lay down. Sometimes headaches can take time to go away.

  • I once read in the home remedies books facial expressions stretching your face around like smiling hard and other different ways can release the tenision in your muscles there by de-stressing the headache. I dont it alot but sometimes people look at me as if I am straining. It really helps example try the yarning expression when we open our mouth to let out that huge tired yarn just mimic the expressions stretch out your face and practice or say apple prenouncing it to the fulliest extent of saying apple by using your mouth and cheeks in your face and eyes. It sounds weird but it does help.

  • I agree with the Excedirn and caffiene cocktail. Normally it's 800mg Ibuprofen and a Mountain Dew for me. I don't even like Mt Dew, but the sugar and caffiene rush helps. On a preventative note, I need to make sure I am drinking plenty of water through the day. Keep up on your exercise - it's your best defense of all!

  • Exccedrin Migraine and some caffeine usually do the trick for me.

Caffeine dialates the blood vessels in your brain, and can ease a headache.

As for the stress, well, the idea of a nice long hot shower or bubble bath sounds wonderful. A good book and a bubble bath do it for me when I get really stressed.

  • The only thing that works for me is sleep, sleep, sleep! I take some tylenol and climb right into bed!! Hopefully hubby can take over the kiddie responsibilities for you.

  • Ok, maybe you can do this (and hopefully can)...

Head to the bathroom, lock the door. Take either a LONG hot bubble bath and simply soak for about 30 minutes. Hubby can deal with whatever's going on in the house (if he can't, he needs to learn NOW). Or take a LONG HOT shower. Run the hot water completely out Oh, and btw, take a radio or cd player into the bathroom and put on some very calming new age jazz.

I find that if I can do this, a LOT of the tension and stress goes away, at least temporarly.

Oh, and a couple of candles added to the mix helps too. :-D

  • Once the young ones are in bed draw a bubble bath, light some candles, dim the lights. lock the door and relax. Take timeto empty your thoughts while soaking and head straight to bed. Whatever issues are lingering can wait ... it's time for you to concentrate on you.
