Wasted my precious "me time" today

Okay, so "wasted" might be a little strong, but I spent my precious weekly "me time" running errands. Every Tuesday morning from 9-12 my little chickie attends a moms morning out program. She loves it. I hope to get her in twice a week next year. So I usually spend those precious three hours at a cafe working on my laptop. But today that was impossible since my laptop is at the shop being fixed (hopefully). (Working on my husband's computer right now.) So I SHOULD have spent that time treating myself to a nice coffee and to read the book I had brought for just that purpose. But instead, driven by that guilty feeling that I should be doing something useful, I ran errands instead. Gassed up the car, bought some paint at Home Depot, picked up some plants for the garden. All useful stuff, but I wish I had just enjoyed my quiet time.

  • I'm on my way to run errands and enjoy me time now, we'll see if I can break myself away from work and this laptop and make it out of the house without stopping to clean a room or changing laundry! I try to think of anytime I'm awake as ME time, productive or not is always another story.

  • I do this all the time. I know I should relax but instead I just do chores and try to clean up my disaster of a house.

  • I think that any time not involving management of the vertically challanged qualifies as "me time". I don't relish the thought of schlepping errands with three kids in tow, so doing those by myself - or with the kid that can't talk or run away yet - is just fine! You normally have actual measurable time alone on a regular basis? Way to go!

  • i soooo know how that feels! when im home from work, I have abt 1.5 hrs after they turn in every night be4 i crash. this time is sacred! its 'MY/ME' only time (cos weekends are all about crazy running around for the family)..that & leaving comments at workitmom & finding likeminded mommies have made 'MY/ME' time extra special :)

  • I know what you mean; I have the same problem with feeling like I should be getting things done instead of taking the "me" time. Better luck next week! :-)

  • Never second guess yourself. If the gut said you should've taken advantage of the "me" time, the plants and paint could've waited, lol.
Do you, boo (as they say)
I feel the same way when my two go down for nap time. I have to have that down time and I don't let anything get in the way (most times)
