Big girl hang out time

I try to make time to do things with each girl one on one.  We have a blast, and they love getting my undivided attention.

Tonight, M and I spent about 30 minutes before bedtime coloring with her new markers.  We had the most awesome talk.  I had to stop coloring and just watch her because the awesomeness of the moment was overwhelming.

She told me that Dawson gave her flowers today, and that she was going to marry him.  She told me that when she grows up and has her own babies I can babysit.  Then she said, "Wait, what if I move far away?"

I said, "I will come visit you whenever you want, no matter how far away you are."

"Well, I think I'll stay close, wouldn't it be cool if I lived next to you?"

She went on to explain how much fun it would be to go to lunch and go shopping, and always be together.

Why can't I take that conversation and lock it up in a little box somewhere and take it out and listen to it over and over?

  • I have an 11 yr old daughter and she always asks for a "girl's day." She thinks I'm cool to be around. That's special. I think after reading about your experience - I'll make more time for that to happen. It's true you can't get those moments back once there gone and I don't want to live in regret. I love my baby girl too much and she's growing up so fast. Thanks for the inspriration!
