Counting Down to the End of the School Year

Ah yes, 23 hours, 11 hours, 32 minutes until the last day of school... As a full-time working woman and a full-time room parent (it feels like a full-time job towards the end of the year), I am actually looking forward to a summer filled with my kids at home, lazying about, playing in the backyard, asking me to play dress-up.
This is my third year as my child's room parent and I really do love being so involved in my child's school - but still it's a lot of work! This year, I started a online group collaboration site, www.qlubb.com, which made organizing my child's classroom activities, events, volunteering A LOT easier.
But even so, the number of end-of-the-year activities to plan is staggering as we get closer and closer to June (teacher appreciation lunch, teacher appreciation gifts, class t-shirts, end-of-the-year fairs, end-of-the-year performances, end-of-the-year parties, kindergarten graduation).
It just never stops - how many fun things can a school really plan in a three week window. It seems that each year, the number of end-of-year events increases ("hey, let's throw in a field trip!")
At my child's school, the last 5 days are filled with...
- school fair
- school performances
- kindergarten graduation
- end of the school year party (plus gifts)
It's just a week-long party, reminds me of good ole Spring Break! But enough is enough, I am pooped, no mas to cupcakes and cookies and clean-up/setup.
I can't wait for the dog days of summer. 23 hours, 11 hours, 15 minutes until the last day of school...

The youngest of my kids, who is ten had this week alone- a class fishing trip, market day, and water day. Last week they had a picnic, baseball day, track and field day, a PTA performance, and a surprise party for their teacher. And that is just ONE of the three kids I have in school. In addition to all that we had, scholarship awards ceremony, dance booster meeting, forensics awards banquet, Senior art show and a major grad party. This week is graduation. I cant wait till next week when it is all over and the kids will still be in bed when I leave for work!
