Mom's the one for me!

Tonight the baby was TIRED!  She had had a very good day, with lots of play time with mom and dad.  But once she hits that wall...forget it.  My husband was going to take her for a few minutes so that I could come in and get on the computer for a few minutes.  No way!  She was not having any of it.  I know that most babies go through a phase where they only want mom, but I feel really bad because my husband takes it VERY personally.  Poor guy!

I ended up explaining that baby had had a very full day.  That helps some, but I know he still feels bad.

  • Great advice! We're trying this whole routine again tonight...so far not going so well :( But maybe we'll get used to the situation. Yesss! I just heard her calm down! I'll make sure to tell him how awesome he is! I know how hard it can be....sometimes when she gets really really worked up I get upset too!

  • My son goes through those phases. He is about 4 weeks wanting only dad to 4 weeks loving everyone to about two weeks wanting only me. It hurts my feelings, but I think it's because my husband has ALWAYS done the night shift. There's something terribly comforting about the person who comes and holds you when you wake up sad and scared.

And, if you tell your hubby that, maybe you'll get more sleep!

  • I remember when my daughter went through a phase like this... perhaps when she is in better spirits you can let them have some time alone so he feels great about it?
