From being on this site, I was then asked to write a few articles for another site. I had just wrote this one about saving money on birthdays instead of putting on these fancy shows that no one will remember anyways. I must say, yesterday was the best birthday for my daughter. It completely blew her party the day before out of the water.

 After work, my mom and I took her over to a lake near by to feed the ducks. She loves the ducks so she had a good time. Afterwards we went home and we played and watched Curious George since that has become her favorite movie. We bought her one that lights up when you squeeze his belly like a Glo Worm. She held its hand while we watched it and kept saying 'George' as best she could. I cut a piece of cake that remained and got out her candle. I lit it and sang Happy Birthday to her. I told her to blow it out and was trying to teach her how. She almost did it herself but was going to reach for the cake so I blew it out and took it away. She grabbed the fork off of the plate and used it instead of her fingers like I thought she would. After a few bites she didn't seem interested anymore and went to play with her toys so I finished it. It was such a better day being centered around things SHE likes instead of trying to please 30 other people. Next year her birthday will be on a Tuesday. I think we'll do the same kinds of things after a weekend party too.
