Could blogging/writing fire me from my day job?

If you’ve been reading about bloggers you probably read how some of them are getting fired from their day jobs for blogging.  I am concerned about this.  I have my day job and I have my part time business.  It certainly is my goal to become a full time entrepreneur eventually but at this point I like my day job, it pays the bills and I perform well.  I don’t use the company resources for personal use.  I really don’t.  I have my blackberry for e-mail and internet, and do whatever business related during lunch or after work hours.

I don’t hate my work place.  I think the people there are nice and the management team is great too.  It’s just that I want to do what I am passionate about and that is to be a business owner.

So I started a website and conduct networking events for entrepreneur moms.   I read a lot about entrepreneurship.  I

write about doing double duty, balancing work and family and business

matters on various social networking sites such as this one,

womenco.com, divinecaroline.com.  Recently I reached out to Yahoo Shine, Working Mother mag, and NY parent magazine.

Whatever I write is only related to my business and everything that I do outside of my day job.

Am I setting myself up for getting fired?  If my employer decided to fire me, what reason would they have to provide?  If I am not badmouthing the company or not writing anything related to my job am I still in danger?

What do you think?
