Palin's nomination, What is wrong with people???

I'm astounded at the opinions I have been reading from moms on the internet about Sarah Palin's nomination. Regardless of which party you are for, everyone should be thankful, that in this day and age, a woman REALLY can accomplish more in life than just being a mom and a wife.

I have read some truly appalling comments about Palin. I have even been embarrassed of my gender in the last few days. From accusing her of stealing her daughter's baby and trying to pass it off as her own, to not being a good mother because she allowed her daughter to get knocked up, she's been accused of not caring about her children.

The comment "she ought to be at home taking care of her kids" I fully expect, coming from the male population, but from the women??? Wow.

These children are not neglected, they have two loving parents, one of which stays home with them, and cares for them. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of really good parents find out everyday that their teenage daughter is pregnant. No one knocks them, or accuses them of being bad parents. Millions of women have babies with downs' and continue to hold down a job or career, many in families where BOTH parents work outside the home. My mother is a home health worker, and one of her clients is a beautiful child with down's. Her father passed away from brain cancer, her mother is a full time college professor, her now stepfather runs his own auto parts store. This child is FAR from neglected, is now mainstreamed in school, and doing quite well, and unlike Sarah Palin's children, she doesn't have a parent home full time, they both work.

It really saddens me that so many women can't be proud of their gender for all the accomplishments that Sarah Palin represents for us, whether you intend to vote for her party or not.
