Kid Envy

I admit it...I covet other peoples' kids. Not all the time, and not all kids. But, there are moments when I think "I wish my son was more like that." This morning at toddler sports class, other three-year old boys and girls were throwing baseballs and batting off the tees. My son? He was running in circles with his eyes closed and falling down, dizzy. He ran the bases, but then kept going toward the street. Meanwhile, I looked longingly at cute little Calvin next to us who was hitting the ball over his dad's head. Or, little Jackie who was catching ground balls.
I came home frustrated and my husband reminded me that sometimes other parents are amazed at my son's ability to name 20 dinosaurs and put together 36 piece puzzles. He's right. But, there are moments when I suffer from serious kid-envy!
It's not that I think there is anything wrong with either of my sons. They each have different charms, interests, and funny little mannerisms. They make me laugh everyday. I treasure both of them.
But, sometimes, in some situations, I'd like a little Calvin or Jackie...
Do you ever suffer from kid-envy? What do other children do that you wish your kids were more like?
