Making Time
Posted 18th October 2008 by MOM - again!, tagged me time
I cannot remember the last time I had a whole hour to myself. By this I mean an hour to spend doing whatever I please. Many times I have to spend it doing what I need to do - sometimes that includes catching that quick nap before the rest picking up my daughter from school and spending the rest of the evening attending to my family.
I recently transitioned from being a single parent for ten years, to growing the family. Life quickly changed for me. The size of the family doubled all at once, responsibilities grew and my time has proportionately shrunk very quickly. I enjoy being a mum and a partner, but there are days when I long for single life, when I could selfishly make 'me-centered' decisions. I used to be a huge advocate of self care and practice it very diligently as well. However, lately I find myself being unable to practice what I preach.
So, if I ever do get that one hour wholly to myself to do as I please, it would be spent either soaking in a candle lit bath tub with a glass of red wine, or dedicated to writing.
