I don't know that I have one favorite thing about the holidays.  I just like that it is a time to get together with family and friends and decorate the house to celebrate.

From Thanksgiving to New Years it is the best time to gather everyone we know and enjoy.  We all get so busy with our lives and it seems that this is the one time of year that people really seem to make time to be together.  Each year we go up to our in-laws in NH and get together with the family and ususally ski.  This year, our in-laws are not coming home from FL so we are on our own.  So, we'll make our own traditions and we are having a holiday party to keep things festive.

I could spend hours walking through neighborhoods looking at everyone's lights.  It just seems so magical.  As a kid I used to go outside at night and walk up and down the sidewalk in front of my house looking at the lights and the stars and sing the holiday songs we would perform for the winter festival. I also had a bit of envy as I was Jewish and we just never had a tree, let alone lights.  Now, I decorate my own house inside and out.  My husbands laughs because I get more into it than any Christian does.

Today, I pick up the tree.  This evening we will put on the holiday music, pour the eggnog, and decorate together.  My husband will have the camera and video camera out to hold onto the memories.  Then we'll step back, turn on the lights, and enjoy the time we had together tonight.
