A reminder to make time for friends when you don't have time

It's been a really really really nutty few weeks for too many reasons and I am completely behind on tons of things for work as well as at home (say, getting my cousin his bday present a week after I was supposed to send it:)

This morning I'd scheduled a coffee date with a really great friend. When I got up and looked at my to-do list, my first inclination was to cancel. I started typing an email to her when I realized I'd cancelled the last time because I was buried with work.

I deleted the email and went to meet her a bit later. It was so great to spend a bit of time outside the office, with someone I love to hang out with. And yes, the to-do list was still very much there when I got back, but I had more energy to plow through it. And sure, I am up late working now, later than usual, but it was worth it.

As a working mom I am ALWAYS behind, ALWAYS buried, ALWAYS not finding enough time for anything -- and I think the one thing I let slide too much is time with friends. In person, not on facebook:)

So here's a reminder to all of you guys -- take an hour and go meet a friend for coffee!

Thanks, Nataly! One of my resolutions is to get a once-a-week walk with friends in there... excercise + friends = sanity, n'est-ce pas??!

Thanks for the reminder. Without my sistah girl friends, I would probably go insane. I have been trying to schedule a girl's night out (i.e., martinis and gossip) at my house for months. I'll do that today because I cherish my friends so much and want to tell them so. Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the reminder - we all need to recharge our battery from time to time and what better way to do it then with some girlfriend time!

I wrote out Christmas cards today. I told 2 people in the cards that I will be calling them to get together in the new year.

AMEN. I went to dinner with girlfriends the other night. I also had an urge to cancel because the kids were a little under the weather. But, my husband urged me to go and I'm so glad I did. It's amazing what just a couple hours of gab-time with friends you love will do for you.
