I Need a Good Story with a Happy Ending

I needed a good story today.  I needed the encouragement of a happy ending.  I was beginning to feel that my story kept starting over, no ending in site, let alone a happy one.

Have you ever felt this way when you were reaching for a goal?  Have you ever wondered if it really is even possible.

Okay, so we've paid off some debt...quite a bit, in fact.  But there's this big, huge one looming over us.  It feels like an iceberg that we're chipping away at with a toothpick.  So I needed a happy ending.

And I found it.  Some success stories that really cheered me up.  Maybe it can be done...at least a few others did it and they shared how.

I just want to know, do I really have to give up my purse and skincare shopping sprees?  How have you eliminated debt and kept your favorite indulgences?

  • I feel your pain, sister. I have been there. In the early years of our marriage, we had full student loans for both me and my husband, a huge business debt, and the pain of stupid credit card mistakes, from greed and ignorance in college. We both had our education, but we were young. Our jobs were entry level. We lived for a few months with the debt, but I JUST COULD NOT DO IT!!!! And, my husband's anxiety level was INCREDIBLY high.

This is what I learned - we HAD to give up all wants and stick to the needs ONLY (yes, purses and skin care shopping sprees fall into the want category ;)). I know the thought of giving up on those things we THINK that we LOVE is overwhelming. I was there!!! However, I would not change our decisions at that time for ANYTHING!!!

There is a tremendous source of internal satisfaction that comes when you feel like you are working towards freedom in your financial future. I PROMISE you that this satisfaction FAR outweighs the feeling of spending sprees on your most beloved items!!! The feeling of living without the looming fear and anxiety, along with a feeling that you CAN control the outcome of your financial situation is tremendous.

Know that you will not live in this state forever. It is a temporary lifestyle change that will create MUCH good in the end. It is a FACT that internal satisfaction far outweighs external gains. Strive towards the internal and the external will begin to seem more and more insignificant.. I know - remember, I was there! And, now I can buy what I want and need, but to tell you the truth, I have realized that I want very little and I would prefer to focus on those things that fill me up most on the inside (those internal rewards). You will, too. Give it a try and find the REAL freedom and rewards that you are looking for!!!

  • What a writer you are my friend! I have many times over replaced my charge nurse income, and to be honest, I GAINED far more than I gave up in the process! Did it happen overnight or without effort? NOPE..... Did it happen in our 12 PRIOR so called "home based businesses" where we thought we could get people to BUY (every month) "stuff" or discount medical or legal plans they didn't use or need?? NOPE.... Didn't even come close.... but we NEVER gave up looking for something that WOULD work... and life is SUCH a blessing now!

KEEP chipping away at that iceburg, keep believing in yourself and KEEP MOVING forward!

    God bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
