My weekend highlight -- movie night with our daughter

Our daughter is 4.5 and this weekend we watched our first movie at home together - March of the Penguins. We made popcorn, snuggled up under the covers, and just had the best movie night together with her and my husband. It was a bit bitter sweet actually, because she's really growing up and we can now watch movies together... no longer a baby.

But one of my favorite mom experiences yet:)

  • Katie -- it is bliss:) And yes, she got pretty upset when she realized some of the little ones died -- but then we went to the local natural history museum, where they had some stuffed ones, and she decided those were the same ones and they are fine now:)

  • Nataly, I am hard pressed to think of ANYTHING I'd rather do than be snuggled under the covers with popcorn watching a movie with my kids, when I can score the time on the weekends. It's blissey. Did she get sad about the penguins?

  • hi I'm new to this website and it looks GREAT! I have a very quick question for you seeing as you are a Boston mom (I live in Cambridge) and our kids are close in age (my son is 2.5 years). I was trying to navigate the blogs to see if there is any discussion on public elementary/middle schools in the Boston area (esp. in Newton and Brookline) and I couldn't find anything. Is this a good place to find that info? (I'm sorry i know this is unrelated to your post--which was a lovely description btw--I'm still trying to navigate the site!). Thanks!

  • Being the mother of two, a 15 year old and a 5 month I feel like I have the best of both worlds. I am seeing my first baby grow and experience high school and al that comes with it and I am able to relive some of those missed moments now with my second. I'm glad you had a great experience, cherish them all.

  • You will really appreciate it when they are teenagers and they still cuddle up with you to watch tv. My kids will pile into my bed and snuggle with me to enjoy whatever I am watching. It is truly one of the best parts of my day. Anyday...everyday!

  • I love snuggle time. While I miss the baby stage too, times like you just had are the best. I crawled into bed with my 6 year old the other morning and we cuddled and giggled. He always wants to sleep together and we have a strict "in your own bed" policy. So, it was quite the treat and I'll cherish it as much as him.
