How is your weekend?

Like most people around me, every week I feel some exhilaration after Wednesday, as it gets closer to weekend. I try to anticipate some relaxation. It is true we do not have to get ready for the work day and daycare. But are weekends as relaxed as they are supposedly pictured? Most of the weekends of mine end up not really that. I do enjoy the weekends whether there is nothing to do or there are some parties and activities. But sometimes I feel we are not using as it is intended to be (?) – like to take rest from a work week, do nothing at all, or do something to relax etc.

Lately I have tried to divvy up my previous weekend chores like washing/vacuuming/shopping etc into week days and husband tries to mow the lawn on Tuesdays.  It is working better most weeks. But when workdays get unexpectedly busy, these get pushed to weekends and there is always stuff to do in the weekend. I guess it must be ok to put off some non essential weekend chores and try to relax little bit more in the weekends.  It is also probably people’s second nature on how they lead their life – some like to be busy all the time and be on the go, and some who take it slower and stop by and relax in between. I would like to switch allegiance from first group to the next. So, how is your normal weekend like?

  • We live in the windy city- so in summer, we are trying to be out as much as possible over the weekends. For us, we try to complete all household chores during the weekday nights so that weekends we can step out and do fun stuff. As my toddler is getting older, i see its getting more diffifcult to push off chores for weekdays.
Our normal weekend involves meeting friends, going to some summer festival, going to the park, taking our daughter to the pool, and hopefully have Sunday nights relativly free so we can just chill and recoup to get ready for the week ahead.
But yes, weekends are never break from the work week, since this is the time, full time mommy hat is on me. And i strive to catch up on missed time in the week.
Good luck with your switch.. and then share pointers. I know i need to get to the "Take it easy" side soon!

  • Some weekends I do lots of work...either around the house...or running necessary errands. I like the weekends I am able to take it easy...maybe even to do something I would "Like" to do...not just the have to do's. With helping watch my one grandchild...life is still busier that it should be at my age...but you help where you can..when you can. One day...want days that felt like they did when you were growing up...carefree days....what a nice though.
