Do you think work-life juggle is easier when the kids are younger or school-age?

I find it easier now that she's older. I can do more things in life. Most days I come home, hear about her day, check homework, etc. On school play days I can go and clap with the SAHM mom's but the next day I'lll be working late in the office and she'll have an after-hours sitter.
When she was younger I was crazed trying to make all the baby appointments, the schedules that assumed you could bring a small child in midday as they needed to save "after school hours" for older kids. So now I'm have an "older" kid.
