After an adventurous first quarter (laid off/renovation/etc.)...I had my second baby on Tax Day this year! It was so exciting and definitely a surprise when I got a flare up a few months later, in the end of June. It was the worst I've had, after my first daughter I didn't have any, and it kept me pretty housebound. See, I have MS and for me the flare-ups tend to manifest as numbness in my extremities, this time it was much of my right side and I couldn't feel the pedals in my car, so I got out.

Long story short, this led to me spending more time on the computer, and looking for other mom's to relate to! Also I'd been talking to another local mom with MS about starting a local meetup group. I ended up finding out that there wasn't (at least that I could find!) a website out there just for mother's with MS!!

There are lots of sites that have a subsection of a ladies section or something for 'parents' but those are often diluted by 'our' parents freaking out about what we're going through. So I started researching domains...and then OMG I discovered that MomsWithMS.com was actually AVAILABLE, nobody had ever registered it!!

So, of course I registered it and it is now an online community for mother's with MS to share, learn, and get support aaround the joys and sorrows of mothering with MS. It has amazing to watch the community grow, we are just about 100 moms so far and the amount of love, advice, support and sisterhood there is amazing.

I'm excited to see what it will be like a year from now...I'll let you know.

  • sounds like you found what you were looking for, even if not the way you intended when you were first looking. i can't say i know how hard it is to be a mom with ms, i don't have that experience behind me. how ever at one time i was a home health aide and i did have clients that had ms and were parents. i know it can be very difficult. i wish you the best! good luck! have a great day!
