Role Reversal

Now that my my daughter is 25, and working as an advertising manager, I often find myself taking a different role. When she was younger (when she needed ample time and amount of guidance) the rules are set by me: the curfew hours, the limited allowance, the no-boyfriend rule. Now that I am 56, and mostly based at home string beads and gardening, I have found myself taking the role of the daughter instead. I miss the time when she would ask me for essay help, for fashion advices, for cooking her favorite dinner. Now, she would reprimand me if she saw me working in the kitchen or any part of the house. She wanted me to just relax and recover. I developed stage 1 breast cancer and have been under the doctor's supervision. I still want to do a lot for her but she won't permit me to. But I do appreciate everything she has been doing for me. For the financial support and the conditional love she never fails to express.
