As a full-time mother, I wake up every day and I see my little son, Nathan, still sleeping soundly in his crib and I can't help but pray and thank God for the special, little blessing that He has bestowed upon me and my husband. Gently feeling his smooth, baby skin and simply looking at him relaxes me as I pray every morning that my little bundle of joy be kept safe from harm and I wish that he would have the best things in life. Being a mom has its ups and downs but seeing his little eyes full of love, every sacrifice I made is all worth it.
Raising a kid is really tough, sometimes tougher than going out to work in an office or maintaining a 9 to 5 job. After setting the sensors that would alert me when my baby wakes up, I do the laundry as the sun comes up so that we would have fresh clothes every day. After hanging all the clothes in the backyard, I clean the house and cook our lunch because once Nathan wakes up, I am completely focused on him and I don't get things done like ordinary chores and housework. I don't hire a nanny because I want to be hands-on with his childhood and I want to be an integral part in his life as he grows up. When he wakes up, I breastfeed him and we play games after. He really loves colors and new sounds and we play until lunchtime; I feed him vegetables but he what he really loves is meat and fruits. After lunch, we usually watch movies as I breastfeed him again and cradle him to sleep. Once sound asleep, I play classical music to help develop his mental facilities as proven by some custom research papers that I have read given by my friends who were full-time moms themselves. As I work around the house again and cook our dinner in time for my husband's arrival, the classical music also relaxes me and relieves some of the mounting stress I feel.
I do this everyday and I sometimes get tired because of the routinary cycle of my life at home. And so to spice things up, I enrolled in an on-line, home-school program and I write the term papers and other requirements for "school" in the afternoon while my son slept soundly for a few hours. Being a mom is tough and really challenging but it is the most gratifying and most important job of all as we raise the future pillars of our society with loving hands and a faithful heart. Rock on, moms, be the best in what you do and you will surely be rewarded for all the loving effort and nurturing you have done!
