Childfree friends

Some child free friends drifted away after I had my daughter. Others stuck around. In all cases we didn't see each other as frequently, but a good friend can still be worht their weight in gold.

I recently asked a friend to pick up my child for a work commitment I couldn't adjust. I feel a little sheepish asking on short notice, because usually I try to pull a sitter or a friend with kids in the school but her answer was "I've always got your back on that, no worries".

Which reminds me that good friends really do have your back, in many situations. I've written her recommendations to assist her on her ever more stellar career path, been there for the tough times, and she is now there for me.

And really, I'm thinking, I need to remember more often, this is how life is supposed to work.

  • Love your blog, its true some friends do stay away as our lifes unfolds in the path of parenthood, but the friends that not only stick around but embrace your family life are priceless. The other day me and my friend were going to a Festival and i brought my two year old. We had a great time the three of us, i was able to enjoy the concert, eat at a good restaurant and she kept it cool even when my son was loosing it at the restaurant...

  • I hear you.. and i feel its actualy advantageous to have childfree friends. One they will always understand, since its unchartered territory for them. And second they will always kee you young!
