How Maximize Nutrients by Minimizing Sugar on your Diet

Here are just a few facts about sugar: it has zero fat; it is an energy source for our bodies; and it makes the food that we eat taste better. But it can make you fat. Now, how does that happen if it does not contain fat at all?
Sugar triggers our bodies to store fat. It is like the go signal on a traffic light, the switch on your bedside lamp or the power button on your television. Since sugar is an ingredient of many of the foods available in the market, it is hard for the majority of us to stay away from it and keep it out of our daily (diabetic) diets. Sugar causes our blood-glucose levels to rise quickly. When this happens, insulin is released and this hormone is what signals our bodies to store fat. The amount of sugar that you consume is directly proportional to the rise in your glucose levels, the amount of insulin produced and how much fat your body will store.
Minimizing your sugar intake is not an easy task. Many of us will definitely agree that giving up the fries, burgers, chocolates and rice is like signing up for the death march. But there are ways to achieving a healthy lifestyle without totally getting rid of these foods. You can cut down your sugar intake by taking little steps first so that you can prepare your body for the changes that are going to happen.
Take note of what you eat. If you see that you eat 3 or 4 chocolate bars in one day, begin by chucking out 2 of those. By doing that, you will decrease your sugar consumption in about half! If you eat at least 3 cups of rice every meal, try to lose a cup during the next few days. It is important to not force your body into this diet change.
Replace your menu with nutritious and healthy foods. You can start by crossing out the soft drinks during dinner or the extra peanut butter sandwich after breakfast. Add fruits and vegetables. These are rich in vitamins and minerals that will give you a healthier body.
You should remember that all the methods mentioned above will not be effective if you do not have the right mindset. Have a concrete goal and focus on that. Learn to commit yourself to what you really want to do so that you will get satisfactory results.
