How do you deal with competition?
Subscribe-
I am really just curious. We are all driven and successful here. Are you relentless about achieving your goals or do you hold back for the sake of being "nice"? I am as competitive as the next gal but I find myself more concerned about the ethics of it all rather than be successful at any cost. I have to write (sadly enough) that I have lost business to competitors who are unscrupulous in dealing with the market. I am happy with the way I do business but there are others who are raking in the success much quicker than I because of their "methods"

You can't compare yourself to your competitors because you don't have a level playing field. Your morals and values will keep you in good stead when they go out of business or similar due to unscrupulous business practices. The market will wake up and realise they are dealing with the wrong business.
Be confident that you are running your business YOUR way and your success will be all the more sweeter because of the way you earned it.
PS. I don't hold back to be nice. If I want to speak up about something I agree or disagree with I do. I also present myself online how I am in real life. Be true to yourself and you will be fine.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Kylie Short on 15th September 2007 -
Kylie, you are so right! I think working hard, offering a valuable resource/service, and being ethical will take me far. Sometimes I feel "shut out" by my out-spoken, less-than-honest competitors...but I just keep plugging along and I get so much support from people who recognize quality and integrity. I also tend to be outspoken but I have a temper. So sometimes I do not speak for fear of being confrontational (although sometimes I just can't keep my mouth shut!).Flag as inappropriate Posted by Lisa R.(dirtydiapersyndrome) on 19th September 2007

I've seen this happen to quite a few WAHM's, friends of mine. They have this fantastic business idea and then comes along the competition who try to rip off the idea or just put them out of business. I think it's because they (the competitors) think that just because they can't see you that what they are doing doesn't hurt anyone.
Well we all know that's absolute crap!
Keep up with the good work and you'll always come out on top. (That's my philosophy anyway!)Flag as inappropriate Posted by Kylie Short on 19th September 2007
