Any good "get your name out there" sites?
Subscribe-
We are launching our website URL on Saturday.
My partner and I are going to be hosting monthly dance parties for families . . . with a whole host of things . . . something for everyone . . . massages for the moms, golf pro sessions for the dads, facepainting and dancing for the kids, the list goes on and on!
Besides word of mouth simply by talking to and running into people . . . does anyone have any suggestions for how else to get our business concept out there?
Our events debut in February . . just trying to do as much as we can, to get those tickets sold!
Thanks in advance!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Naomi on 28th November 2007 -
Good looking flyers at the local toy store or kid's shoe store. An announcement in the paper's entertainment section (these normally have to be sent out early so start now!). Don't be afraid to send out press releases to every newspaper, print and online, in your area. These are easy enough to do. It may result in an interview, even. Can you put an ad on your local TV station? A press release there is good, too. Your idea is a great one and just by canvasing the area it can catch on quickly. Oh, business cards with the web address. Don't be afraid to hand them out! Good luck! The flash on your site is great and I love the star icon as your favicon! Can't wait to see the rest of the site so make sure you post when it's up.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Mandy Nelson - Dandysound on 28th November 2007

ooh i just went to your site! you are in DC too? put some more info on the site!! i would love to check it out and see what you are up to
i am in DC!!!
you can also 'give' some tickets to blogers who are local to an area where you are having some of the events (DC Metro Moms to mind!) so that they can give them away in various contests.
Mandy's press release idea is great! dont forget radio stations!! a lot of them have very active websites too (as well as news stations) and you can advertise on the web banners pretty cheaply. You can also just have the events listed in local papers (city papers, etc.) under 'upcoming events'!
very exciting for you!! Can't wait to see more!!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Kate on 28th November 2007 -
You girls are great!!
We have the business cards on order . . . should get them next week.
Press Release are READY to go . . . just waiting on the website to be up, so that we have somewhere appropriate to send people for information!!
Kate - you are so cute! More info is coming! Email Liz . . . rock.n.tot.dc@gmail.com . . . she'd be more than happy to give you all the dirt!!!
Giving tickets away to local bloggers is a FANTASTIC idea!
Keep the suggestions coming! We have a good handle on promo stuff, but feel like we're overlooking the obvious.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Naomi on 28th November 2007 -
You might also try holding a contest, see if you can put up flyers at daycares and around parks. Another idea is to add your listing to a bunch of business directories, especially wahm ones. There aren´t a lot of free ones out there, but I´m launching one next week, if you are interested. It´s a good way to get the support of other wahms.
Also, is there a Welcome Wagon or something similar in your area? You could contact them and see if you can´t add a coupon to their welcome baskets. See if you can team up with other businesses to help promote yours.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Genesis on 2nd December 2007 -
thanks!!
I am going to start contacting local businesses . . . exchange some space on their bulletin board, for a mention on our website.
I'm feeling more and more positive about this process, now that the website is live.
Welcome Wagon is a great idea!!!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Naomi on 2nd December 2007
