The StoryCorps Project- Listening Is an Act of Love
Subscribe-
Has anyone read any of the StoryCorps, Listening Is an Act of Love? I had eyed the book set a few times while waiting in line at Starbucks, but I didn't really know what it was. Then my Mother gave it to me for a birthday gift. I am only a little into the book, but it really is amazing. It's a collection of short stories taken from verbal interviews. The stories span generations are are quite touching. Since each story is only a couple of pages long, it's great for those stolen moments!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Yes, Mommy has to work today on 1st January 2008

I once heard a story about this on NPR, along with a few of the stories - they were wonderful. I think they had a story booth in Grand Central Terminal in NYC for sometime -- the few stories I heard were recorded there.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Nataly on 1st January 2008

I think that NPR had a weekly story from StoryCorps. I l-o-v-e the series, because the story is told by the people who lived it. I'll definitely check out the book!Flag as inappropriate Posted by KC on 2nd January 2008

It is on NPR... I think every Saturday morning.
Grand Central Station has a permanent StoryCorps booth and there are others going up as well as mobile units!
Some of them bring tears to my eyes!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Yes, Mommy has to work today on 2nd January 2008 -
Great that you got the book. I have not seen the book, but I've heard the stories on NPR many times. It's a wonderful idea, huh?
Anyone who likes this book might also like another NPR book: I Thought my Father was God. This book is short stores from NPR's National Story Project.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Diane on 2nd January 2008 -
You can make a reservation and participate in the StoryCorps project. The locations are listed here along with how to make a reservation. I totally would love to do it so my children will have access to any stories we have to tell, at least through the archive. The StoryCorps stories are amazing though mine would all be mundane.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Kat on 3rd January 2008
