Eco-friendly paper trash bags?

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy paper trash bags? I hate using the plastic ones!! Growing up in New Zealand I remember we always used these big, sturdy brown paper bags. They were extremely sturdy and never burst open unless overfilled (especially with lots of unbagged food waste).
