Are expensive face creams worth it?

  • I used Loreal for years and it seemed fine. Then I kept hearing people talk about Clarins, so I spent what I think is a LOT of money -- something like $60 for a small jar -- and really loved it. But I am not sure it made a difference, truly.

What do you use? Does the more expensive stuff make sense?

  • Gosh, I hope the answer is "no" b/c I'm too cheap to buy such items! I used to buy the good stuff, but alas those were the pre-kiddo days. I also remember reading a couple of times comments by consumer organizations that they don't make a huge difference and that the main thing is to moisturize, keep out of the sun, not screw up your face/frown all the time, and eat well. Oh, and don't smoke. I moisturize if my skin feels dry, but quite honestly that's hardly ever anymore since I moved to the South in 03. These products are cool for lots of people... just not me. :)

  • I am taking everything with a grain of salt. I read a lot in my fashion business, so I know what is new, or about to come out. If the article is compelling, I buy it when I go out. I do not go cheap on eye and face products, and I try to prolong their life, by using a drug store as a second time a day alternative.
Lancome is my trusted brand for target areas, and even if it does not quite suits my green lifestyle goal, I use it a lot. I am very happy with Origins, their cleansers are great.

  • Oooh, I need a new cleanser. Which one from Origins do you like?

  • Here they are Nataly,
I have been testing their products a lot, some hit some miss.
I start using these two 10 months ago, and I still have half of the jars, because you do not need much:
“Checks and Balances” Frothy face washer
It has lavender, spearmint, geranium, your face feels fresh and invigorated, you need very little on the tip of your fingers.
    “Modern Friction” Nature’s gentle dermabrassion.
Because I am against all that is forced on our faces, like cosmetic dermabrassions and chemical peels( sounds awful! ) I use this one 2-3 times a week. You should use it in the morning, it’s giving you a nice glow, and you would know how often you need it, because your face starts looking dull, and you may start feeling some bumps. It is gentle also and has rose, rice, bergamot and cucumber. I just love it.
Let me know what you think.
