  McCain has used the phrase himself. Obviously it's a colloquialism that has nothing to do with Ms. Palin.

  I thought Obama was saying that putting Palin on the ticket didn't make McCain's policies any more palatable. She's the lipstick to McCain's pig. No insult to her -- she's simply a distraction from the negative PR McCain was getting.
