Laura is a professional organizer who writes the insanely popular and addictive blog, OrgJunkie.com. She lives in Canada with her husband and three kids, ages 2, 9 and 11.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you became an organizing junkie.

I became an organizing junkie out of necessity many years ago when I realized it was going to take a little creativity to "create" space in our 900 foot square house with four of us living in it. Once I started and began reaping the rewards I couldn't get enough. It eventually became a game for me. How much space can I possibly utilize out of any one area. I get such a high from it and it is such a happy place for me when I am in the zone. I find it very relaxing believe it or not. I realize now that I almost should have called my blog "I'm a Container Junkie" because that is by far my favorite step in the organizing process. Although as much as you want to, you can't start there. Containerizing is the reward for me after all my hard work sorting and purging.

2. How long have you been writing your blog, orgjunkie.com? What's your favorite part about being a blogger? Your least favorite?I started my blog in May 2006. At the time though I started it just as somewhere to blog about my "freak" passion. I enjoyed having an outlet for making fun of myself. I still do. I never take life too seriously and I love to have fun and be silly which I think comes out on my blog. There are so many great things I can say about being a blogger but my two favorites are that it provides me with a part time income allowing me the opportunity to stay at home with my youngest and the other is the community. Without community it would just be me talking to myself and that might get a little boring.

The worst part is staying on top of my email. I get so many great emails with questions from my readers and I do try and answer them all, just sometimes I can't get to them as quick as I'd like too.

3. Most of us want to be more organized, but it's not always easy. What are some common obstacles your blog readers face?I think all of us, myself included, are feeling the time crunch. How to do "it" all in such a short amount of time and do it well. I personally think it's a myth, we just can't do it all all of the time. There are seasons of life where we will need to accept where we are and just go with it.

To keep the sanity though we need to dig deep down to discover what our true priorities are at the moment and then ask ourselves some tough questions about what we can do to keep those priorities front and center. Everything else that doesn't support this needs to be dealt with. For instance if sitting down to a family dinner each night is important to you then weed out all the factors that get in the way of this such as kid's after school activities. I definitely feel our kid's today are way over-scheduled, anyway.
