  • Masking tape is my current lifesaver: The little kids will play with it for ages, and if they stick it to the wall or the floor it comes off easily!

  • Make a quick-change kit (a couple of diapers, a few wipes, and a T-shirt or onesie in a plastic bag) and stash it in your diaper bag. When you need to change your child, just grab it and go!

  • I keep packages of instant oatmeal and a few tiny boxes of raisins in my desk at work. When I want to eat cookies, I mix up a cup of the oatmeal, sprinkle on the raisins, and have that instead. It's a close second to a cookie, but much better for you!

  • Traveling for business? Take digital pictures of your packed luggage (open and closed), leave the images on your camera, leave a copy at home (or on your computer), and put the prints with your passport and tickets. If your bag is lost or any item is missing, you have picture-perfect evidence to show officials -- and may even get your stuff back.

  • Dab a little teething gel (like Ambusol or Orajel or the generic equivalent) on a mosquito bite or bee sting to "take the itch away" -- the lidocaine in the gel numbs the skin the same way it numbs the gums.

  • Create a reading "nook" in an empty room or secluded corner of the house. Use a screen or furniture to create a feeling of separation if needs be. All you need is a comfy old armchair and a reading lamp. Even a few minutes a day in your nook curled up with a book will recharge you. It's an easy and free way to build a tiny bit more "you time" into your day.

  • i spent long hours travelling in the co. bus....so while travelling to office i plan about 'things to do at office", while travelling back home i plan about "things to do at home"...i also maintain a small notepad which helps me scribble anything that come s to my mind (know its traditional but its very effective) like things to buy on weekend, important things to discuss with boss or doctor)

  • I set a kitchen timer for my 9 year old. She has 10-15 minutes for each part of her morning routine (getting dressed, eating breakfast, etc). It helps her know if she's moving too slow and it's fun for her to try and beat the clock.
