This article from the Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser has a few solid tips for handling the work-life juggle, but what really struck me were the stats:

Nationwide, about 64 percent of the women whose husbands work, also have paying jobs. In Alabama, that figure increases to 77 percent. About 64 percent of single moms nationwide work, and that increases to about 82 percent in Alabama, according to a 2006 American Community Survey using U.S. Census Bureau statistics.

Of the 80 percent of mothers who went back to work within a year of their child's birth in 2004, seven in 10 returned to the same employer and jobs at the same pay, skill level and hours worked per week.

Do you relate? Is being a working mom the norm where you live?
