What is the one skill you want to teach to your kids?

Social intelligence!

So this really is a set of skills, about how to be aware of the feelings of others and respond to them, you know - having a clue and getting along. It's a skill that supports a lot of the values we attempt to model for our kids, like compassion and generosity.

If I could teach them how to live in the present moment, I would pick that as the one skill. Living in the present leads to peace like nothing else does. But to teach that I'd have to have a fair grasp of it myself, wouldn't I? :-)

I want to teach my little one to be a strong problem solver and to use critical thinking (reasoning) skills to survive in this new global society. I also want him to be a team player - sometimes the leader and sometimes the follower.
