When I was a little girl (fourth grade) I often dreampt of having my own art gallery on the main floor of my 'mansion', with my living space and studio on the second floor. Now, I find the idea silly, because I have no artistic talent, and I could never spend that much time at home! But it shows that even back then, I wanted to own my own business.
Then, once I reached high school, I wanted to become a CPA, and move to France. Because of a report I had to do on careers after taking one of those tests that tell you what you would be good at, I found out that business people in Europe were like doctors here in the US, highly paid and highly respected.
Finally, in college I wanted to become an Accountant that also knew computers, but I didn't want to be a CPA or an Auditor. So, I studied both Accounting and Computers. I dreampt of moving to a big city such as Chicago and making tons of money and buying a BMW. I did end up moving to Detroit, and working for Ernst & Young as a consultant on computer software installations for accounting and other software programs at Fortune 500 companies, but I never did buy that BMW, since I was downsized after 2 years.
Now, I am happily living in Northern Michigan, with my husband, daughter, and my 'computer' job...but I still dream of owning my own business someday...maybe a golf course. ;-)
