Cheerios by the truckload

Do you have a toddler? If so, you're probably like me: you go through Cheerios by the truckload. I'm thinking it would be efficient to just keep an open trough of Cheerios in the kitchen, from which we -- my daughter, the dogs, and myself -- could just snack from all day. My daughter loves them. The dogs love them and it would save them a lot of pathetic watching, waiting, sneaking, and opportunistic pouncing if we just gave everyone -- canines and people alike -- open season on the snacks. And as for myself, sadly I have taken to snacking on and even lunching on Cheerios. With milk it's lunch. Without milk it's a crunchy snack. Hey, it's just easier to eat what your child eats. Is this the beginning of the slippery slope I've heard of, whereby the whole family is eating waffles 24/7 by the time the kid is five??!!

I am learning and getting addicted to couponing... so yesterday I bought 2 of those giant boxes of cheerios on sale minus a bunch of coupons I had, I think it was like $2 out of pocket for both. I already had 3 boxes at home! So we'll be swimming for a while.
My kids are 10 and 7...we have graduated from Cheerios by the truckload, to Cheez Its by the truckload! There are days when Cheez its are my lunch and dinner!!

Yes, I'm afraid you have encountered that slope. In our house, it's mini pancakes most days, and only occasionally waffles.
Diane...My 2-year old has taken to eating waffles that are STILL FROZEN! Ick. He can't stand to wait until I heat them. One day, he was carrying on and wanting his waffle when I was trying to heat it, so I asked if he wanted it cold. He did! It's a good liesson in "hot" and "cold." :-)

Dianna, yes it is true, after a while you start fixing food for yourself that looks like your child's meal. I lost track of how many chicken nugget, catsup and canned green been lunches I've had with my son. We eat a truckload of the plain cheerios around here too. My son is now five. He gets bored of them every once in a while, but we probably go through a giant box every two weeks.

Reminds me of a story my girlfriend shared about her first day back to work (a v.p. level job at a fancy investment bank) after maternity leave. She got all dolled up, felt very pulled together, briefcase in hand etc. when riding up in the elevator, she caught her reflection and spotted a wet cheerio glued to her neck!

My children, 3 1/2 and almost 2, routinely ask for Waffle Sandwiches -- PB&J on homemade waffles. Cheerios are much more portable. LOL

Reminds me of the Honey Nut Cheerios commercials where the entire store is HNCs! Do you buy them in bulk? Keep your eyes open for deals at warehouse stores and Amazon.com. Yes, Amazon does groceries.
lol .. thats cute hey my kids big cheerios fans especially that captain krunch. My kids just eat cereal period. I read that cherrios is good for you colesterol and good in fiber and all kinds of stuff. It;s fun yet healthy eating :)
