I have trouble with winters. As the light dims, so does my energy, my mood, my interest in things. It's depression, obviously. Not profound: I still take pleasure in my surroundings, still do my job efficiently, still laugh with my family. But things are more work.
My husband bought me a SAD light for Christmas -- an early present, which I received in October. It's not romantic, no, particularly since we'd discussed it in advance so that he knew just the right one to purchase. It made a notable difference. I still faded a bit, but I weathered the winter with marked more energy than previous winters.
But now it's spring! Spring, and I feel the life seeping back into my psyche. More energy -- physical, mental, sexual, emotional -- more willingness to try new things, an overall positivity that's been lacking for months. It feels WONDERFUL.
Phew. What a relief!
I'm beginning to think that a tropical vacation in February is going to become a medical necessity. Think I can get the insurance to cover it??
