Spring

I have trouble with winters. As the light dims, so does my energy, my mood, my interest in things. It's depression, obviously. Not profound: I still take pleasure in my surroundings, still do my job efficiently, still laugh with my family. But things are more work.

My husband bought me a SAD light for Christmas -- an early present, which I received in October. It's not romantic, no, particularly since we'd discussed it in advance so that he knew just the right one to purchase. It made a notable difference. I still faded a bit, but I weathered the winter with marked more energy than previous winters.

But now it's spring! Spring, and I feel the life seeping back into my psyche. More energy -- physical, mental, sexual, emotional -- more willingness to try new things, an overall positivity that's been lacking for months. It feels WONDERFUL.

Phew. What a relief!

I'm beginning to think that a tropical vacation in February is going to become a medical necessity. Think I can get the insurance to cover it??

Let me know if the "medical necessity" works for you!
Ha, if you can figure out how to get insurance to cover that, let me in on your secret!

Spring has me feeling alive again too. So glad you're feeling great!
I know what you mean, and it's one of the reasons I really didn't want to stay in the Northeast after my (first) husband finished grad school. We moved south, and now I'm out west, and the more temperate climate does help a lot.

I'm glad the SAD light helped you this year, and it's great that spring is bringing your groove back! :-)
I am right there with you - am SO HAPPY the weather is finally turning! Here in CT, we had gorgeous weather last week, but, alas, this week it's a return to cooler, rainy weather. Oh well - summer is right around the corner. A nice tropical vacation mid-winter should definitely be covered by insurance - wouldn't that be wonderful?
