The dreadful Swim Suit Shopping

Well now that summer is approaching (although with the weather lately you couln't tell) i started my search for a new swim suit.  Let me first say I do have one from last year, but i wanted a new one that fit a little better. Although I hate wearing a swim suit and i hate shopping for one even more.

So there began my search, I looked at the usual places I would buy a swim suit.  Let me state that i am not a thin skinny minnie, so I am looking for a couple of things in a swim suit

1. A suit that can hold up running after a toddler

2. Support to hold in my trouble areas

3. Finally - a swim suit that would support my chest

It has been told to me that some of my suits in the past have made me look, well let's say, a squished.

Needless to say after spending some time yesterday on the net trying to find a store or site i came up empty.

So if you have found that perfect swimsuit or even one you would recommend please let me know.  I would be so thankful to but an end to this misery.

Okay, I second the suggestion you check out Lands End and Eddie Bauer. Personally, I'm like you and MUST HAVE chest support. One observation, having scoured both the EB and LE collections already is that both stores still let women down a bit in the boob support area. Much better selection than in the past, but still often the ones in bigger bra sizes are still pretty low cut, which just looks awful on me. Ugh. I like more coverage. So let me enthusiastically recommend a brand I discovered last year: Coco Reef. They have tankinis that come in bra sizes. In particular they have a twist tankini top that is very flattering. I got a chocolate brown one last summer and just got myself a second in a different design this year. I like to pair these tops with swim shorts. That was I don't feel so exposed when I'm at the pool or the beach. Oh, and Sunsets Separates is another brand to check out. Well, these are my picks for bust support. However, if you really want all-over control I'd get a MiracleSuit type deal, but go for a tankini instead of a one-piece - more flattering I think. Good luck!

No wonder!!! I relate VERY well. As a 36FFF, and a flabby tummy left over from the pregnancy, this nightmare has only gotten worse for me over the years. Why has no one figured out how to make a bathing suit the way they've figured out underwire bras??? But I think I finally found a good one (it's on backorder) Check out mymodbe- you really need a rep to come and let you try on stuff...but seriously I was shocked how good everything looked the first time. That NEVER happens!!;)
We'll keep searching together and keep each other informed!

Swimsuit that will fit just right is so hard to find... I totally hear you. Good luck!
I'm no skinny minnie either. And, I'm one of those moms who rarely shops for myself b/c the children always need something. But, I have to say I saw some really hip swimsuits that fit your bill in some unexpected places. Oh, did I mention I'm also a bargain shopper who refuses to pay department store prices for a bathing suit (or anything else)?

Well, I don't know your taste, but I found a beautiful dark blue one piece designer (chic) bathing suit last year for only $10 at Marshall's! Yes, the price was slashed and the only one left (in my size 16+) I couldn't believe it. It matched a beautiful sarong I got in Daytona, FL.

I also saw some great fitting suits in WalMart and Fashion Bug. All fit your criteria above. And mine...b/c I'm also very picky and will not go outside with clothes that look cheap, flimsy or ill-fitting.

ugh i hate shopping for them too!! good luck and let us know what you find! i have heard great things about Eddie Bauer and Lands End - but i can't say i have tried them first hand. Why do swimsuits cost more than a winter wool coat? this never made sense to me...
