Sexual Harassment at Work- Does it still happen?

Sexual harassment. I have had a family member and co-worker involved with situations at their work places. Have you ever experienced it and how did you deal with the situation? Does sexism still exist in the workplace?  I have a feeling it does, but I'd like to hear what your experiences have been.

That's horrible. Reporting it definitely would have been the way to go. Then again, hindsight is always 20/20. Hopefully your work situation has improved since this incident.

Sexism and sexual harrassment are two different things -- though both are manifestations of the same root problem.

I once experienced a moment of sexual harrassment on the job. I was working in a group home, and had climbed onto the kitchen counter to get an item from a high cupboard. When I turned to jump down from the corner, a (male) co-worker was standing there in such a way that the only way to get down was to slide along his body in a far too intimate way. I told him to move. He just grinned. I told him I didn't think it was funny, get out of my way. He didn't.

So I slid down off the counter and, yes, he got a full-body rub. He also got my knee in a very tender body spot. I just looked at him as he groaned, doubled over. "I *asked* you to move."

I should've filed against him for harrassment, but didn't. However, he never bothered me again. What an ass.
