Thanks for nothing, NYTimes article.

Like, I'm sure, thousands of other concerned women I got all tied up in knots about domestic inequality after reading the NY Times article by Lisa Belkin titled "When Mom and Dad Share It All."

Like a fool, I ruminated and simmered about the unfairness of it all and even expressed a few of my frustrations here at Work it, Mom! Like an even bigger fool, I brought it up with my dear husband, which led to the inevitable exchange of words. Not an argument, I hasten to add, but still. And that was followed by the equally inevitable earnest discussion the next day about our feelings.

But did anything change? Nope. Does it ever after these types of discussions? Nope. I hate to say this, because it's the sort of thing I heard my mother say and I swore I would never do the same, but it's so futile. We do what we do. They (spouses) do what they do. Hmm.

Tell 'em, Diane. Ugh. I have no words.
I read this article as well. I think my husband and I try to balance out a portion of the family workload, but I definitely end up doing more "housework" and cleaningup. However, he does run the kids around more than I do.
sigh...
