Finishing up the book

This is crunch week on getting my husband's next book ready for print.  This means lots of last minute layout tasks for me and lots of last minute art tasks for him.  It feels good to be finally getting this done.   It has been almost a year since we last got a book out and the financial reserves are running low.  We really need the lump of money that comes in when we release a book.  The book has to be sent off to the printer by the end of June, because my husband has two conventions in July and one in August.  He will not have the time to do book work with all that running around.  Besides sending the book to the printer at the end of June means that we'll be handling a book release in early October.  That will be just about perfect because the kids will be settled in school before the craziness that is caused by shipping out thousands of books in a single week.

That's so great - congrats! What an accomplishment :)
That's cool! I have always wanted to write a book, and everytime I start, I stop. I was thinking about writing an e-book. As much as I'm at the computer everyday, that makes more sense for me. What is the book about? What type of book is it? I sure do hope you guys make a bundle off of it. Wish me luck, too. It's crunch time for me as well!!! I hope you have a great day!
My husbands books are compilations of his serial comic strip found at schlockmercenary.com. It is a science fiction comic that has been running daily for 8 years. Now we're trying to get all of those strips into print. My book is a children's picture book that I wrote because my daughter needed a metaphor for controlling her impulsive ideas. It is called Hold on to Your Horses and can be found at www.holdontoyourhorses.com. So far, my Husband's books pay our bills and my book has yet to break even, but then I don't have 8 years of fan base behind my project, so we'll see.

Good luck with all of your last minute crunch work! Back in the stone age of computers, my husband published a few different computer magazines (monthly) and I remember him practically working round the clock to get it to the printer. It's a ton of work.

Hope all goes well.
