Our summer nanny found, we had her come over this weekend to get better acquainted with the kids and help out as we frantically packed our life into boxes for our move.
She is bubbly, smart, and ready to let the fun begin. Her first win was letting my 5 year old son sit in her car and pretend to drive (no keys). She was also very patient as my 8 year old daughter put on her big-girl-personality, and acted like she was going on 20.
For a few hours they went out for lunch, ice cream, and a trip to the playground. They returned a little more subdued and content. Our nanny turns to me and says, "They were so good. They play so well together!"
To which my daughter replies, "Yeah, but we were only trying to impress you. We always fight."
I look to my daughter in shock, then back to our nanny. We lock eyes for a second, and both of us burst out laughing!
The day ended with my son running to the car yelling, "I'm coming home with you. I'll drive!"
40 applicants, 25 interviews of various stages, and 4 face-to-face meetings later, I think things are looking up. It was a process. I found so many talented people and in the end it was hard to choose just one out of the 4. I eventually went with my instinct. How else do you know? In the end, do you go with your instinct, or is it the final analysis across pros and cons? I've always used my gut feeling and it's worked.
Is that crazy?

I go with my gut too...there's no other way about it.
