I went to work today and felt it.

I talked to friends today and felt it.

I tuned into the news tonight and felt it.

I talked to our son tonight and – oh – felt it.

It’s all around, I can’t escape, and my guess is neither can you. If you listened to the news, you heard that housing values have fallen 25 percent, trips on airlines are going to be a thing of the past for the average family, groceries and gasoline are becoming the single-most focus of the average American today.

And, I’m feeling – well – oppressed.

I feel it every day as I try to keep my small business afloat. I feel it as I witness clients and potential clients delay decisions to move forward with projects just because they are uncertain about what the immediate future holds for them and how they will pay for the commitments they make. I feel it when I have to say to Little Bug that we can’t afford a summer vacation away this year, no matter how desperately I want for our family to escape and relax together. I feel it when I am forced to make heart-breaking decisions to cut back because our business’ billables have nosedived in an uncertain and unpredictable economy.

And, I’m angry.

Angry at a President who has been asleep in office for far too long.

Angry at an economy out of my control.

Angry at myself for not anticipating…acting quicker…sooner…years ago.

I feel your pain. It is a shame that you cannot plan trips as we all used to be able to do. Travelling seems to be a long term goal now, even if it is only going to a neighboring state.
