Devil's Advocate

only girl in the house, only woman in the room

Mostly, I am the only woman in the room by day and the only girl in the house, by nights and weekends.  Three sons, one husband (beloved), and many male co-workers...I just wonder where are all the girls.

There were lots of girls when I went to college, 20 years ago.  Where did they all go?  If they left the workforce to raise their kids, are they gone forever?  Do they plan to come back when the kids are in college.

At this rate, I'll be in the workforce for 25 more years, supporting my boys, happily, I must say....but I would like to do it with a few more women.

I can relate -- I spent the last 10 years in venture capital and business, working with literally 99% men. It's frustrating. (But I do have a little girl at home, so at least we outnumber my husband there:)
